Was coming off a great evening in Brooklyn… it started by helping my sister toast to the launch of her new real estate firm with Belvedere Mules on the Kimoto rooftop and ended with a stay at the nearby Dazzler hotel. I woke up the next day to views of my new home. My city. My borough. Filled with a relaxed sense of joy, I took my time getting ready and then took one of those 55-minute long showers I tend to only take when I’m in a hotel (that I like a lot).

I said a prayer, did some meditation, and the resounding message was: invest in yourself and reach your goals. Sounds selfish right?! I guess it can based on the context, but in my personal life I’d been focusing on too many external distractions, people and energy that recently have taken my focus off of myself, and God’s plan for me. So, I’m recommitting to my personal investment. Taking myself out. Taking myself on walks. Travel. Really connecting within. The more whole and confident we are in ourselves actually makes us better citizens of humanity, because we know our role and our best value that will help others. Interestingly enough, what can seem as an extremely introverted act, can help us be better extroverts lol. So, long story short, take yourself some me-time. Connect to your source and be phenomenal.

Speaking of these walks I’ve been taking, one of the most glorious ones done on this day, was my first walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. In true Brooklyn fashion, during my walk I rocked to the nostalgic vibes of Jay-z’s Reasonable Doubt album. The scene is so dope walking up… all types of people on the street, music and festival action celebrating Jackie Robinson Day. I took time to bum like 40 photos from random passer-byers, who were kind enough to oblige to help me capture the experience. This is one of my favorite blog shoots to-date because the story and build up meant so much to my soul, and on a more surface level – I really like this maroon jacket…

It’s amazing how things align when you fully commit to your God-given ideal, then have the faith to walk patiently into fruitionThe Brooklyn bridge metaphorically represents a connection to this revival in my soul.
