Despite a total monsoon and HUGE blowout loss suffered by the Bulldogs on this lovely Saturday, I had a great time on my first GameDay trip to Athens. This was mostly in part to my gracious friends at CraftBoxGirls and the Georgia Beef Board who selected me to be part of a Social Influencer group to attend the festivities.

It all started with a fun bus ride from Atlanta to Athens complete with beer (yes, I drink beer on occasion) and the company of the other Influencers who all shared their favorite, most memorable GameDay memories with me. This included learning chants of all the Georgia Bulldogs fights songs, and a full rundown of what was to come at the tailgate.

When we arrived in Athens at the tailgate, it was quite the scene with music, energy and enthusiasm throughout the area. Not too far ahead of us stood our Craft Box Girls tent, with all the fixins and style that I would imagine them to have, including an amazing assortment of beef dishes. Talking or writing about them, does em’ no justice at all. I probably went back for 5, maybe 6 plates, but the plates were small, so I tried to justify the obsession with some measure of portion control (ha!). Here are some of the recipes I enjoyed:

Prior to kickoff, we threw around the football and had a great time connecting with some of the other Influencers and cool guests at the tent. I’m not going to get into the game portion much, because Alabama blew us out, but if I just focus on the great people and food that I enjoyed, this day was definitely one to remember!

See the video recap of the experience below:

I hope my next visit to Athens has some sunshine and a victory! Go Dawgs!
