The Consulate Atlanta is a new restaurant in Midtown founded to celebrate global flavor in a slick setting of mid-century art luxury. Mills Branding was commissioned to play host to its grand opening and produce an experience to showcase its assortment of international plates and craft cocktails. We even brought some of our friends from Moet & Chandon to christen the new venue with our trademark magnums of champagne.

For the global vibe, blue seemed like the right color to rock. It gave me the political feel, but to not make it too stuffy, I incorporated a micro print floral shirt and a cuffed, fitted summer-weight denim. Before a big event, I always picture the environment I’m in, and see how my look can best pair with the ambience. On a practical level, I also consider things like the time of day and temperature for the fabric selection.

Most of these photos were before nightfall right at the start of the dinner party, so the natural light let the photos do their thing. I forgot how much I like the feeling of throwing something on, and stepping out in the evening to a grand affair. It reminded me so much of our dinner parties at STK, but on a different, more artistic wavelength.
